Kalanchoe
Kalanchoe (kal-un-KOH-ee) has beautiful foliage with colorful, long lasting flowers. They enjoy bright light and a well-drained soil. They get leggy under low-light conditions and must not be over-watered. Like most succulents, kalanchoes are better able to handle dry conditions, opposed to wet conditions. Fertilize lightly in spring and summer, or when plant is actively growing.
Kalanchoe need short days and long nights to re-bloom. The usual schedule is to let them grow and bloom vigorously in the spring and summer, then transition them during the fall so they will bloom for Christmas.
